LCPTA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL
This annual festival gives students additional performing experience and exposure to all periods and styles of piano literature. The required literature alternates each year. The festival is not competitive, but each student receives a written critique from the judge. Proceeds from the festival provide a scholarship for a MSU piano major.
Festival Requirements
1. Literature for Fall 2019 is "Mostly" Romantic Period.
2. The Festival fee is for one entry of 6 minutes of solo playing time. A separate entry and fee PER STUDENT is for 6 minutes of ensemble playing time. Each entry will have its own critique sheet. Teachers may play duets with students at no cost.
3. Although music from the specified period is recommended, it is not required.
4. All solo performances must be memorized. Ensemble music need not be memorized.
5. A published copy of all music must be furnished for the judges. Please number the measures.
6. Although there is no required minimum number of entries, all members who teach piano are expected to participate in the annual festival by entering as many students as possible.
